About Our Training Center

The Sign & Lighting Workforce Training Center is a Native-owned and woman-owned workforce training program dedicated to opening a direct path into the sign and lighting industry — regardless of background or experience. Our 16-week program combines structured classroom instruction with hands-on training using real sign and lighting materials, tools, and equipment. Students earn four industry credentials: CPR/First Aid, OSHA 10 Construction, Aerial Lift (MEWP) Operator, and Cal/OSHA Qualified Rigger Level 1. Our curriculum is led by Program Director Andy Jones, who brings 50+ years of hands-on industry experience to every cohort.

The final four weeks place students directly with our confirmed externship partners — established sign and lighting companies that hold first-right-of-hire on SLWTC graduates. Upon completion, students leave the program credentialed, equipped with their own work-ready tool bag, and connected to a real pipeline into the trade.

We are built for the people most often overlooked by traditional training programs: veterans, people in recovery, justice-impacted individuals, Native community members, and career changers ready to learn a skilled trade.

Our Story

We are Andrea and Andy Jones. Andy is a third-generation tradesman with 45+ years in the sign and lighting industry — a family craft slipping away without a formal pipeline.

Andrea, a Native American woman with 20+ years of administrative expertise, works with men and women in recovery and sees the need for a real pathway firsthand.

We see the need. We have the skills. We are building SLWTC to strengthen our community — together.
